Mission
The Office of Operations (OO), an office within Departmental Administration (DA), provides leadership, direction, coordination, and guidance in activities at the USDA Headquarters Complex and the George Washington Carver Center (GWCC) in the National Capital Region (NCR).

What We Do
The Office of Operations exercises its mission by providing leadership in areas relating to: facilities management, space management, engineering and architecture, internal energy conservation, environmental sustainability and waste management, occupational safety and environmental compliance. In addition, OO provides centralized business services including mail management, printing and duplication, a nationwide disability resource center, office supplies, shipping/receiving, warehouse and labor services, a Consolidated Forms and Publications Distribution Center and Centralized Excess Property Operations.
Since 1984, USDA has been delegated the responsibility for managing, operating, maintaining, repairing, improving the Headquarters Complex, which encompasses 14.1 acres of grounds and two buildings containing approximately 2.5 million gross square feet of space, as well as the USDA-owned GWCC that comprises 350,000 total square feet, located on 73 acres in Beltsville, Maryland.
