New Health Facility to Improve Quality of Life for Michigan Residents

Recently, I broke ground for the Center for Family Health’s New Health Center in Jackson, Michigan, along with Congressman Mark Schauer.

This $9.6 million project was made possible thanks to a USDA Rural Development loan guarantee with Hillsdale County National Bank.

The facility will gather services under one roof in downtown Jackson.  Currently these are divided among five different locations.   The three-story structure will include a pharmacy, on-site Diagnostic Center for Labs and x-rays, Quick-Access Clinic with 9 exam rooms, more than 60 medical exam rooms, 14 dental operatories, classrooms for health education training and  an Information Center for health coverage programs.

The Center for Family Health employs 161 workers, and the new facility will add an additional 45 jobs.  The average hourly wage is $20.48.  So 206 jobs are coming to downtown Jackson!

The Center for Family Health is a non-profit community health center, providing medical and dental care for children and adults.  The mission of The Center for Family Health is “Opening the door to health care for all” and they have been a safety net medical provider since 1991 and a federally qualified health center since 2000.  They provide medical services including pediatrics, internal medicine, family practice and obstetrics & gynecology.  Their goals are to identify and eliminate barriers to care for everyone in their community, offer convenient and welcoming services, improve health status indicators for the community and promote health education.  In addition to their medical services, they operate a full-service dental clinic, provide Maternal and Infant Health Program for Medicaid and Medicaid-eligible pregnant women and infants, behavioral health, case management, outreach, transportation, and translation services.

We are pleased that USDA Rural Development could partner with this important facility to bring jobs and economic opportunity to downtown Jackson.  With Assistance from Alec Lloyd.
