There's not one specific way your My Plate should look. This week, people began to break away from the literal plate image to create tasty looking meals that still follow the USDA plan. Although these plates may not look exactly like the icon, each plate still follows the USDA’s message to make half of your plate fruits and vegetables and balance lean proteins with whole grains and fat-free and low fat dairy. Whether it’s a hearty pasta dish or a colorful salad, these pictures show that anyone can make an original My Plate. So stray away from the ordinary, practice a healthy eating plan, and make My Plate your own way.

Since the launch of My Plate, the United States Department of Agriculture’s new food icon, photos of your interpretation of a perfect plate have been filling our twitter feeds. Many of you have captured pictures of your healthy meal and posted these photos to twitter followed by the hashtag #MyPlate and a delicious description. Each plate, not only makes our mouths water, but shows how eager Americans have been to follow a healthy eating plan based on the new USDA symbol.
