Last week, Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack met with Mexican Agricultural Secretary Francisco Mayorga in Merida, Mexico to discuss agriculture and trade. The two agricultural leaders engaged in a very productive dialogue on a wide range of issues important to both the United States and Mexico.
Mexico is the second largest market for U.S. agricultural exports, while the United States is by far the largest export market for Mexican agricultural products. This meeting reiterated the two countries’ commitment to achieve positive, measurable results from their collaboration on a broad range of activities, including agricultural extension education, biotechnology, animal and plant health, disease control, and trade liberalization.
