The U.S. Forest Service and the Natural Resources Conservation Service honored partnerships in four states for outstanding efforts in conservation and forest stewardship.
The National Joint Forestry Team, comprised of the Forest Service, NRCS, conservation districts, and state forestry organizations, sponsors the Two Chiefs’ Partnership Award. Award winners work in partnership with the team’s agencies and organizations.
Cheri Ford of the Arapaho and Roosevelt National forests and Pawnee National Grassland in Oregon; the West Virginia Forest Stewardship Partnership; the Alabama Natural Resource Council; the Collaborative Coastal Whole Watershed Restoration; and the Siuslaw Partnership in Oregon are winners of the 2010 Two Chiefs’ Partnership Award, which honors groups and individuals for outstanding efforts in conservation and forest stewardship.
Created in 2007, the National Joint Forestry Team improves forestry assistance to owners of working forests, farms and ranches. Team participants seek to improve the sustainability of the nation’s forests in order to provide optimum levels of public benefits and ecosystem services.
