The Advisory Committee on Minority Farmers (ACMF) will meet on July 23-25 in Tarrytown, New York to consider USDA programs and policies and their impacts on minority farmers. The ACMF will then recommend action-oriented strategies to maximize the participation of minority farmers in USDA programs and services.

The public is invited to attend in person or virtually. Attendees should pre-register by July 22, 2024.

The Advisory Committee on Minority Farmers (ACMF) works in the interest of the public to ensure that all farmers have equal access to USDA programs. The committee advises the Secretary on the implementation of section 2501 of the Food, Agriculture, Conservation and Trade Act of 1990 (7 U.S.C. 2279); methods of maximizing the participation of socially disadvantaged farmers or ranchers in USDA programs; and civil rights activities within USDA, as such activities relate to participants in USDA programs.

Membership

Members of the committee are appointed by the Secretary. The ACMF members represent minority farmers or ranchers, nonprofit organizations, civil rights professionals, and institutions of higher learning. Please see the current slate of members (PDF, 232 KB) serving on the ACMF.

Charter (Related Committee Documentation)

The ACMF is chartered to advise the USDA on action-oriented strategies that maximize minority participation in USDA's programs and services. The ACMF hosts public meetings during which the members, through public discourse, formulate recommendation for the USDA Secretary’s consideration.
