ReConnect Program FY 2019 Funding Opportunity Announcement Awardees

The ReConnect Program offers unique federal financing options in the form of grants, loans, and combinations thereof to create or improve rural e-Connectivity for rural customers across America.

 

USDA invested in 74 projects in the first round of the ReConnect Program. The investments represent $693.91 million in grant and loan funding for high-speed internet. The funded service areas include a total of 132,886 households.

The funded service areas include 3,911 households, 9 critical community facilities, 13 educational facilities, and one health care center spread over 120.65 square miles. The project will allow individuals living in the funded service area access improved services and opportunities.

This program includes 61 miles of aerial and buried fiber with GPON FTTP electronics. Receiving this grant funding will allow Oklahoma Western to service a much-needed part of the state with high speed broadband service.

The project will help facilitate new educational and economic opportunities for local residents and it will help improve the overall quality of life for people in the community.

The Seneca project will assist the youth with completing their required daily homework, advance the health care at the local medical facilities, provide businesses and farms with technology that will allow them to operate more efficiently, and assist with future economic development on the territory.

The project is expected to transmit over a Gigabyte (1000Mbps) of bulk Internet to the island. The funded service area includes 40 households, one educational facility, and one critical community facility spread over 0.84 square miles.

The proposed project will provide broadband services within a portion of the Choctaw Nation in southeastern Oklahoma in McCurtain County. The funded service areas include 517 households and two critical community facilities spread over 15.41 square miles.

Applicant: Ellijay Telephone Company

This Rural Development investment will provide Ellijay Telephone Company with the opportunity to use $4,411,079 received in ReConnect Program grant funding to deploy a broadband network to service areas with up to 1 Gbps synchronous broadband service via a fiber-to-the-home deployment. The total deployment would be about 90 miles of new optical fiber transport facilities. The funded service areas include 2,159 households, one educational facility, and two critical community facilities spread over 7.71 square miles.

This Rural Development investment will provide Daktel Communications, LLC with the opportunity to use $1,809,290 received in ReConnect Program grant funding to construct fiber-to-the-premises (FTTP) network infrastructure north of Jamestown, North Dakota. The funded service areas include 406 households and three educational facilities spread over 164.70 square miles. The use and development of broadband in this area will provide various home-based business opportunities, stimulate economic growth, and stimulate innovation and investment in the area. In addition, education, health care, energy efficiency, and public safety will improve with high-speed Internet access. Daktel Communications will offer broadband services at 1 gigabit per second symmetrical to locations that were previously unserved in the area.
