Statement from Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack on the Death of Firefighter Justin Beebe

WASHINGTON, August 15, 2016—Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack today released the following statement on the death of U.S. Forest Service firefighter Justin Beebe:

"Our thoughts are with the family and loved ones of firefighter Justin Beebe, who lost his life in the line of duty on Saturday fighting the Strawberry Fire in Great Basin National Park. As we mourn the loss of a member of our USDA family, we are grateful for Justin's brave service and the service of all of our U.S. Forest Service employees working to protect our nation. Our thoughts and prayers continue to be extended to every firefighter during this fire season."
