Office of Advocacy and Outreach (OAO) Overview

The Office of Advocacy and Outreach has five key program areas: Socially Disadvantaged Farmers Program (includes the Outreach and Assistance to Socially disadvantaged Farmer & Ranchers Competitive Grant Program), Small Farms and Beginning Farmers and Ranchers Program, Farm Worker Coordination Program (includes the Low-income & Migrant Farm Worker Grant Program), Higher Education Institutions Program (includes 1890 land grant institutions, 1994 tribal land grant institutions and Hispanic serving institutions) and Community Engagement Program. The Office of Advocacy and Outreach houses two federal advisory committees: Small Farms Advisory Board and Minority Farmer Advisory Committee as well as the USDA Small Farms Working Group and Office of Small Farms Coordination.
